list is not an ordered collection of items.
you can do positional access of an element in lists.
Using List, you can store duplicate values, and list is an ordered collection of items, and you can do positional access as well.
Here ordered collection means, in what ever the order user enters the data, that order will be persisted. Meaning, when user reads the elements, elements will come in the same order. But in sets, you can't predict the order of elements while reading.
