X and Y started a business in partnership. X’s investment was thrice the investment of Y and the period of his investment was two times the period of investment of Y. If Y received Rs. 4000 as profit, then their total profit is:
Suppose Y invested Rs. x for y months.
Then X invested Rs. 3x for 2y months.
X:Y = 3x*2y : x*y = 6:1
Y's profit: Total profit = 1:7
(1/7) = 4000/z or z = 28000
Hence, total profit Rs. 28000.
