There are two stops between two stations U and V. A Sumo starts from U and travels towards V. It reaches first stop at 4.30 Pm when it covers 1/4 of Its journey and reach Second stop at 1/3 of its journey. Find the start time from station U, if it takes 5 minutes to reach second stop from First stop .
Here assume the distance between U and V be p km.
Then distance from U to First stop = p/4 km
And distance from U to Second stop = p/3 km
Therefore, distance between two stops = p/4 - p/3 = p/12
Time taken to reach Second stop from First stop = 5 minutes.
That is, time to cover p/12 km = 5 minutes.
Therefore, required time to cover p km = 5 x 12 = 60min.
Now, time taken to reach Second stop from U = time taken to reach p/3 km = 60/3 = 20 minutes.
Since it reach 1/3 of its journey at 4.30 pm, it starts from U at 4.30pm - 20 minutes = 4.10pm.
Hence the required time is 4.10pm.
