Jayaram takes 6 hours to do a job. Rajesh takes 9 hours to do the same job. How long should it take both Jayaram and Rajesh, working together but independently, to do the same job?
Solution: Let A = Jayaram, B = Rajesh.
A's 1 hr's work = 1/6, B's 1 hr's work = 1/9
(A+B)'s 1 hr's work =(1/6 + 1/9) = 15/54 = 5/18.
.'. Both Jayaram and Rajesh will finish the job in 18/5 hours = 3.6 hours.
in the last why it divide 18/5?
