The distance between two cities P and Q is 390 km. A train starts from P at 10.30 A.M. and travels towards Q at 50 km/hr. another train starts from Q at 11.30 A.M. and travels towards P at 60 km/hr. at what time do they meet ?
Solution: Suppose they meet x hours after 10.30 A.M. then,
(Distance covered by first train in x hrs)+(Distance covered by second train in (x-1) hrs) = 390.
.'. 50x + 60(x - 1) = 390
=> 110x = 330
=> x = 3.
so, they meet at (10.30 + 3) i.e., 1.30 P.M.
